VACANCY SUITABLE FOR AN EXPATRIATE RESIDENT ALREADY IN BAKU : HEAD OF ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE & GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES (TEACHING MANAGEMENT ROLE)

Salary: between 1800 and 2500 Euros per month app.
The International Modern Educational Complex named after Heydar Aliyev seeks a committed, enthusiastic career teacher to appoint as Lead Teacher of English as a Second Language & Global Perspectives, to support our school in improving its provision for both subjects, developing a suitable bespoke curriculum, improving resourcing and developing pedagogy. Salary is somewhat flexible but is likely to be between 1500 and 2000 Euros net, per calendar month.
REQUIREMENTS (ESSENTIAL)
- a high level of personal and professional presentation / skill (smartly dressed, good social skills, team player);
- a high level of integrity and the ability to receive feedback;
- a native English speaker; other profiles might be considered if they are genuinely native-speakers (i.e. flawless written and spoken English);
- a credible, internationally recognised qualification in ESL such as TEFL, CELTA etc. (Qualified School Teacher Status is non-essential)
- the ability to teach ages 5-15, and understanding of how approaches must vary for Primary and Secondary;
- a clear understanding of lesson planning and differentiation;
- the ability/willingness to deliver a 50% timetable (18 lessons p/week, some doubles so feels like a 2-3 lessons p/day) and model a very high standard of ESL teaching both for small group work and lessons in mixed ability groups of 10-18; we're looking for someone of (or close to) 'expert standard';
- capability to chair weekly meeting of the ESL and Global Perspectives teachers, minuting accurately, enforcing accountability for key actions agreed, addressing problems and celebrating achievements;
- sufficient skills and experience to observe lessons delivered by local teachers and provide targeted feedback that will improve their work.
ALSO DESIRABLE WOULD BE
- experience of teaching the syllabus for Cambridge IGCSE ESL
- experience of teaching the Azerbaijani ESL school curriculum and preparing students for state tests in English;
- experience of teaching the syllabus for Cambridge Global Perspectives.
